I’ve finished the design I plan to submit to the Schachenmayer My Mountain hat design contest. The entry is due by the end of the month so I finished with time to spare (for once).
The first hat I made is a tad on the big side – and I have a large head. My sister was kind enough to model for me – thanks SMHH! 🙂

I decided to call it “Bass Mountain hat”. It’s a long convoluted reason why – so don’t bother asking.

I also tried making a smaller toddler size, but either my daughter’s head runs big like mine, or this is just a baby hat. So … Cindy, my favorite model ended up showing this one off.

It’s the same design with fewer rows and one less green stripe in the middle.

I now understand why people like to use bulky or super-bulky yarns. You can make stuff in record time! I completely finished the smaller hat in two “days” (30-60 min evenings).
What do you think? Would you wear it? As big as it is, I personally love the feel of the hat. I hate wearing tight hats. I still have enough yarn left over I might be able to make one more in-between sized hat. Then I’ll have a complete set. It would almost be nice to make mittens too but I know I don’t have enough yarn for that.

You can see the other two I made on this Finished Object Friday post. With all the traveling we’ve done lately there haven’t been many at-home baths. But #3 is done and the fourth one is started.
What have you been working on?
I love the color you used. Looks so cozy! I’d wear it!
