Our home.
The place that Papa (with a little help from me) built to keep us warm and dry during these blustery, cold, and rainy days of early November. It’s so well insulated that it keeps us cool enough we barely run the air conditioning in the summer. It’s almost too big for our family, but until the housing market changes, we wouldn’t think about trying to move.
It’s hard to believe we broke ground 10 years ago this next April. I know it’s sad … we still haven’t poured our driveway or sidewalk. Between the ground settling, after we moved in and then a fluctuation in our funding, it’s just never been accomplished. Plus, even with a “new” house, it still seems there are always projects that can be done.
Today I am thankful for our house. I’m thankful for the 1.03 acres that allow us to have fruit trees, a small garden, and free-ranging chickens. I’ve even been thankful for the driveway that creates “Lake N” every time it rains a couple of inches … it gives Little Chick an opportunity to get her shoes wet (again).
