I know we need rain to make our gardens and grass grow … but can it stop now?! If I have this calculated correctly, we’ve had rain for 17 of the last 20 days! Most of those days aren’t just 1/10″ … we’re talking 1 to 2 inches! We’ve had almost 9.5″ of rain since the beginning of May. Seattle, Washington has had only 1.4″ in the last 36 days … and they’re supposed to be the “Wet Capital” of the US.
My sister has been luckier. In Milwaukee they’ve gotten rain practically every day, but it’s usually rained overnight. So their days are dry if not bright and sunny.
It’s so wet:
- The grass keeps growing but it’s tough to get it to dry off so we can actually mow it.
- Our garden isn’t growing very fast – lots of moisture, but not enough sun.
- Our daughter is low on outdoor exercise because it’s too wet to play outside … unless she wears her rubber boots. Instead we’ve had a lot of climbing on furniture lately. I can’t wait for the park playgrounds to dry off!
- I’ve noticed we’ve all wanted to sleep more because all the dark and gloom. We need natural Vitamin D.
What’s the weather been like in your neck of the woods?
