It’s time for…
Finished Object Friday

Almost two weeks ago we became great-auntie and uncle again. Our niece gave birth to a beautiful little boy and I decided to make this adorable little elephant for him. (I had a little time to spare before I would meet him).
The pattern is a free one called Elephante by one of my favorite designers – Susan B. Anderson. I was worried Little Chick wouldn’t want to give it up once she saw it, but I don’t know if she realized it even left. It was fun to make, but I’ve never had to work with so many stripes in my life! Fortunately, Susan had a tip to just knot the ends because they’d be hidden on the inside – instead of weaving all the ends in. Whew! That saved me a ton of time!.
If you’ve never made crocheted or knitted stuffed animals, they can be a lot of fun – and a great way to use up small bits of yarn. But they can also be fiddly. I mean, you have to make each one of the pieces individually and sew them together (the part I like the least). Here’s what the feet looked like:

I think this is a better picture of the almost-finished elephant I took that morning, but he didn’t have eyes or a tail yet.
