I may have disappeared from blogger-ville, but do not fear! I have been busy crafting. Mostly small projects, but that means I have more to show!

I finished some more squares for the Checkerboard Textures Throw hosted on Red Heart. I have three of the first two patterns, but by the time I got to the third, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to make three of each. I won’t rip out the others unless I really need the yarn … at least until I decide for sure. At this point though I think I’ll just make one of each.
Patterns:
- Cross Stitched-Square (released 1/22)
- Granny Square (2/5)
- Back Loops Square (2/19)

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
Colorways: Aran Fleck, Coffee, and Cafe

Spoiler alert (if you are working this KAL!)

I’m still working on the UC Mystery Sampler KAL. There were two squares released this month, but one was just this past Wednesday and I haven’t finished it yet. It won’t be long though. These squares are quick to make up! The picture above is actually the fourth AND the first square, just to give you an idea of how some stitch patterns can really “pull in”. It will stretch fine to fit into the afghan.

I’m a few days behind in my Weather Afghan, but hopefully I can show you pictures of February’s square soon.
Creative Knitting is running a four-week dishcloth KAL. Today they posted the third (of four) patterns. I’ve only made one and it took a while.

You see, the pattern called for 12 more stitches wide than my UC KAL squares and I was really hoping to incorporate any other squares I did into an existing afghan. So I charted the pattern and then modified it to make it work. It took a couple attempts to get it just the right size. I’m not sure if I can get the others to also work into this afghan, but knowing me, I’ll give it a try.

Last month I wanted to join a KAL for this pattern called Monster Cowl. The KAL was supposed to end on January 31, so when I went on vacation, I took along what I thought would be enough yarn to finish it. Sadly, it wasn’t. I finished this last week. I’m not completely sure I like it. Don’t get me wrong – I love the chevrons, I love the colors, but when I put it on it just seems too bulky. Funny enough, I think it looks fabulous on Little Chick.

Maybe I just need to make it longer so it looks as good on me…

And a couple of patterns I managed to finish just last night…

Can you guess why I threw in a washcloth in the midst of everything else I’m making? Yep, this was a giveaway entry for a dishcloth/washcloth KAL/CAL. Needed to have it done by the end of February.

And last but certainly not the easiest, my new fingerless mitts!

I’ve wanted to make a pair for a while, and you guess it – there was a contest this month for making mittens (or socks), so I just HAD to enter. Problem was, I started just last weekend, made one and it was WAY too tight. I think I knit far tighter with double-point needles than I do with straights or circs. So I had to start over. This time I decided to wing it. I really like how they turned out!

They are a tad different sizes, but this picture really makes them look off. They don’t look any different once they’re covering up my cold, frigid hands at work! I wore them today 🙂

And now that this post is officially LOOOONG … it’s time to end and get back to crafting!
