Today I’m thankful for my feet. Why?
Last week I was walking into Walmart and I saw an older woman shuffling along at a snail’s pace. She clearly couldn’t lift her feet to move any faster.
Also, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that a neighbor down the street now had a smaller handicapped accessible bus pull into their driveway each morning. They load a boy about 9-10 years old onto the bus in a wheelchair. This didn’t use to be the case so something clearly happened to the boy (we’re not exactly on a first-name standing so I feel I can’t be noisy and find out what).

The sad part is that even though I have full use of my lower extremities, I haven’t been making much use of them lately. I went walking the previous Saturday / Sunday because it was relatively nice outside but I haven’t been out since. It’s dark when I get up, it’s dark when I get home from work, {insert any number of excuses about my lunchtime}, and this past weekend was rainy and cold.

I’m going to make more of an effort to be thankful for my fully functional feet (and legs) today … maybe I’ll chase my daughter around the house tonight! 🙂
